Tommyknocker Brewery's Imperial Nut Brown Ale

Imperial brown? I see a shark being jumped.

Pours a deep brown. Moderate head that disappears making it look more like a Coke than anything else. Smells, I don't know, like a wanna' be stout. Tastes about the same. More hops than a brown should have, even an imperial, whatever that means for a brown. Otherwise it tastes like a slightly nutty standard stout.

Meh. It's like a boring brown, but bigger.

Big Sky Brewing Company's Moose Drool Brown Ale

I've had a few Big Sky beers, but none have been posted here for some reason. Guess it's been a while. Of all of them, Moose Drool has the biggest following. The right name is everything, sometimes.

Pours a nice brown, tinged with red. Tan head dissipates to a collar pretty quickly. Nice slightly nutty smell, with minimal hops.

Much nuttier in the taste. Nice, fairly light body, again with light hops so that the malt is more prevalent than the bitterness.

Good version of an American Brown. Not a sexy style, but a solid beer.

Saint Arnold Brewing Company's Brown Ale

This one always looks like an amber to me. It pours a coppery amber with a light tan head that stays fairly well and moderate carbonation.

Smells like it should though. Bready and slightly nutty, it's straightforward and simple.

Light bodied but smooth, this is a very good beer for times when you want something bigger than a macro but not hoppy or heavy. Light to moderate bitterness that isn't really distinctive and doesn't weigh it down, with a good malt backbone that stays bready but also manages to stay light in feel.

For a long time this was my favorite Saint Arnold offering, but I think it now regularly rotates between this, the amber and the wheat, depending on which one I'm drinking at the time. Today, this one is it.
