Michigan Brewing Company's High Seas India Pale Ale

Holy crap. Been since October since I posted? I know y'all have all been sitting around wondering "OMG, where is BOTD?" Well, y'all can all just relax now.

This one pours a deep amber with a big, pillowy tan head. Smells great. Hoppy and slightly floral, but with a big bready backbone to it.

Funny though, it's more malty than hoppy in the taste. That's fine, just different. And it may be a bit old... If so, though, it aged very well. Bitterness comes out more in the aftertaste, and is actually pretty nice.

Very good beer. I can't recall having other beers from this brewery, but I'll be sure to try more.

Michigan Brewing Company's Celis White

This post will be proof positive to the one person who ever reads it that I can be objective. Just because I don't like something, doesn't mean it isn't done right.

This one pours a hazy yellow with a fizzy white head that fades fairly quickly. Throws off a ton of floral hops and that weird, chemical smelling yeast that I don't like. But, of course, it's supposed to be like that.

Ooof. Smells the same. Do.Not.Like.

Yeah, tastes to me like a weak form of cleaning solution. It's zippy and light, with a huge amount of the Belgian-type yeast that I just cannot stand.

But for the style, it's very good. It has all of the characteristics that a Belgian wit should have, and is fairly strong for one as well. So if you like for even the lighter beers to have a little more kick than usual, and like Belgians, you'll like this one.

I just don't, though.

Michigan Brewing Company's High Seas India Pale Ale

Pours a nice amber with a great thick, tan head. Looks like Rogue's Northwestern Ale, so I'm hoping it's going to be a good one.

Smells grassy, malty, not too sweet like many IPA's can be.

Nice. Solidly bitter, sharo and crisp like a pale with a big punch. Fades to a sweet-ish malt aftertaste.

Nice beer. Nothing too sexy, but very drinkable and clean.
